South Korea issued a partial amendment to the Food Code to modify the definition of some food types

On February 17, the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued Notice No. 2023-13, amending part of the Food Code. The main contents are as follows:

 

1. Modify storage and circulation standards: the storage conditions of individually packaged ingredients used in the production of simple cooking sets, simple meat cooking sets, ready-to-eat cooking foods, and recipe-type managed foods can be changed; temporary freezing is allowed when refrigerated meat is sliced into thin slices; Expand the types of frozen foods that manufacturers can distribute after thawing.

 

2. Modify the definition of food types: modify the definition of nutritional formula food, delete the dosage form restrictions, and can be made into various forms; individually packaged ingredients do not contain natural products, and can also be classified as simple meat cooking sets.
