On 7 March 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture of Chile issued resolution 1066, amending the phytosanitary requirements for imported dry products of plant origin. This resolution shall enter into force 60 days after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Main contents:
(1) Revise the definition range of dried products, star anise as dried fruit, cinnamon as dried bark, clove as dried flower bud, vanilla as immature dried fruit;
(2) Add quarantine requirements for imports such as dried cinnamon and the official phytosanitary certificate of the country of origin stating that the goods have been fumigated in accordance with the provisions of resolution No. 7, indicating the name of the agent treated, the dosage and the duration of the treatment;
(3) Add additional statement: vegetables must be free of pesticide residues, etc.; Packaging is marked with at least the following information: country of origin, producer name or code, and plant species;
(4) Add treatment measures (methyl bromide fumigation or heat treatment) for Drosophila melanogaster and Trichoderma codling in accordance with the USDA treatment manual.
