Japan revised food labeling standards

March 9, 2023, the Japanese Consumer Affairs Agency website published the 15th cabinet order to revise food labeling standards. The main contents of the revision are:


(1) Include walnuts in the list of allergen ingredients that must be labeled on food labels;


(2) To approve the marketing of foods processed from transgenic rape containing docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA).


The revision will take effect as of the date of issue.
