Australia formulated standards for the use of bovine lactoferrin in infant formula products

On April 19, 2023, the Commonwealth of Australia published the F2023L00452 announcement, formulating standards for the use of bovine lactoferrin in infant formula milk powder products, which will come into effect on the date of publication. The main contents are as follows:


(1) Quality standards for bovine lactoferrin. Moisture is less than 4.5g/100g; ash content is not more than 1.5g/100g; iron is not more than 35mg/100g; Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes and Cronobacter cannot be detected;


(2) Conditions of use of permitted nutrients. Sold only under the brand name Synlait for use as a nutrient in infant formula products. The special period refers to within 15 months from the publication date of the food standard (Application A1253 - Bovine lactoferrin in infant formula milk powder); the maximum amount of bovine lactoferrin in infant formula milk powder products is 40mg/100KJ.
