New Zealand published hygienic standards for imported egg products

On April 26, 2023, New Zealand's Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) issued Announcement No. 56659 to formulate health standards for the import of egg products.


The main contents of the standard include definitions and terminology, regulatory system and regulatory agency requirements of exporting countries, application and issuance of egg product import licenses, requirements for official certificates accompanying imported products, hygienic control requirements for production and processing, transportation and storage regulations, and specific import regulations. Special heat treatment requirements for egg products (such as ready-to-eat egg products, egg powder, liquid eggs, etc.), epidemic prevention regulations for imported egg products that may carry avian influenza or Newcastle disease, etc. The standard will come into effect on the date of publication, with a transition period of 6 months.
