On June 5, 2023, the website of the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) released Proposal No. 2023-A06, which proposes to revise the import requirements for shrimp products intended for human consumption. The main contents are:

(1) All imported prawns and prawn products must be frozen;

(2) All imported cooked shrimp and shrimp products must be frozen, and the minimum core temperature of the product should reach 65℃ during the cooking process;

(3) only countries or regions that have been assessed by Australia as free of 10 pathogens including decapod iridoid virus are allowed to export whole uncooked (frozen) shrimp to Australia.

The feedback period for this draft is until August 4, 2023.
