South Korea issued a draft for comments on the revision of Local Health Inspection Standards and Health Evaluation Methods for Branded Imported Food

On July 21, South Korea issued Announcement No. 2023-367, which intends to revise part of the Local Health Inspection Standards and Health evaluation Methods for Branded imported Food, etc. The main changes are as follows:

 

1. imported food processed by OEM (OEM), such as overseas production enterprises in the local health inspection obtained excellent evaluation (score in more than 95% of the full score), allowed to extend the inspection cycle from 2 years to 3 years.

 

2. If there is no import performance in the health evaluation cycle, the health evaluation shall be carried out within 2 months from the re-import, revised to be carried out within 4 months from the re-import.

 

3. Amend "special purpose food" to "special nutritional food" so that the name of the food category is consistent with that in the Codex Alimentarius.

 

The above comments will be solicited until August 10, 2023.
