Brazil revised the MRL of veterinary drugs in foods of animal origin

On August 7, 2023, the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) issued through the official Gazette INNo241 directive, amending the standard for residues of veterinary drugs in foods of animal origin. The specific contents are as follows:

 

1. The maximum residue limits (MRLS) of several veterinary drugs such as melengestrol acetate in some foods have been added, some of which are shown in the table below;

 

2. Four veterinary drugs, such as bupivacaine and lidocaine, are exempted from the formulation of maximum residue limits in food.

 

The directive will come into force on 1 September 2023.
