Brazil establishes phytosanitary or animal health emergency measures

On September 12, 2023, the Official Gazette of Brazil issued Emergency Measures No. 1186, measures for phytosanitary or animal health emergencies, effective from the date of publication. The main contents include:

 

(1) The public authorities of the Unified Agricultural Health Care System (SUASA) may, within their competence, undertake epidemiological studies or surveys;

 

(b) Special and temporary restrictions on agricultural and livestock products transiting in Brazil by any road;

 

(c) Special restrictions and restrictions on the international transit of agricultural and aquaculture products;

 

(d) Determine containment, disinfection, extermination, treatment and destruction measures applicable to agricultural products, equipment and facilities and vehicles in transit within Brazil and internationally;

 

(5) Achieve or determine the status of enforcement of phytosanitary and phytosanitary mitigation and control actions.
