On 3 October 2023, the Official Journal of the European Union published Regulation (EU) 2023/2379 amending the Regulation on the use of food additives (Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008).
The main content of the amendment is to remove stearyltartrate (E483) from the list of approved food additives, which originally included heat-treated fermented dairy products, breads, bakery products, etc., because the EU assessed that there was insufficient toxicological data to support its safety as a food additive.
The Regulation shall enter into force 20 days after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
