Israel issued a directive on special proactive inspections of imported food

On October 23, 2023, the Israeli Ministry of Health issued a directive on Special Active Inspection of imported Food (No. 520275023) which reads as follows: based on the war, this directive is issued to quarantine station inspectors in accordance with the provisions of Article 86 (b) (2) of the Public Health Protection (Food) Act 2015-2015 (hereinafter referred to as the "Food Act") in order to reduce the clearance time of imported food on the basis of risk management and safeguard public health:


1) Ordinary food, the sample volume does not exceed 3% of the annual import volume;


2) Fresh agricultural products (fruits, vegetables), with a good import record of the same country of origin, the same type of fresh agricultural products, the sampling volume is 25%;


3) The sampling amount of sensitive food, the same type of food (dairy products, industrial dairy products) with qualified import records, the sampling times should be at least five batches;


4) Frozen raw salmon and frozen tilapia with a good import record, sampled every 4 cargoes.
