India to develop methods for the detection of ethylene oxide and 2-chloroethanol in food

On November 23, 2023, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued a consultation paper to develop testing methods for ethylene oxide and 2-chloroethanol in food. The feedback period is 30 days.

 

Main content: Ethylene oxide and 2-chloroethanol in food were detected by gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The range of detected food was: dry food (sesame, grains, spices, dehydrated fruits and vegetables, etc.). The detection limit of this method was 0.01mg/kg.
