On November 28, 2023, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued Order RCD-12005/1/2021-Regulatory-FSSAI (E-1125), clarifying that stevioside shall not be used in chocolate, cocoa butter substitute chocolate and its products. However, it can be used in milk drinks, powder products, dairy desserts, edible ice, canned or bottled (pasteurized) fruits, etc.
