On December 18, 2023, the Ministry of Food and Drugs of Korea (MFDS) issued a notice to expand the scope of the automated inspection program for imported food documents, extending the applicability of the "SAFE-i24" system to include food additives for agricultural, livestock, and aquatic products with immediate effect. The system will shorten the inspection time for agricultural, livestock and aquatic products (up to 48 hours → within 5 minutes), saving time and cost for business owners and allowing consumers to buy fresher imported food.

In the future, MFDS plans to expand the applicable items to processed foods (including processed livestock products) and health functional foods (first half of FY24), while periodically verifying that inspections and repairs have been correctly carried out in the "e-Audit 24" system and continuing to promote the system.
