According to the Federal Register, on December 19, 2023, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued 2023-27857, a proposed amendment to the food additive regulations to approve the use of calcium formate as a feed acidifier in animal feed and drinking water to lower the pH in full-price feed for swine and poultry.

It is understood that this application was filed by LANXESS Corp and that the regulation becomes effective on December 19, 2023, with objections to be filed by January 18, 2024.
