Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced that from 30 December 2023, Nutri-Grade (Nutritional Grade) labelling requirements and advertising bans will be implemented for freshly prepared beverages sold in selected venues in Singapore. And it applies to freshly prepared beverages sold in the following areas: retail environments (e.g. food and beverage (F&B) outlets, food and beverage establishments, as well as digital platforms) and non-retail environments (e.g. hotels, workplaces, educational institutions, healthcare organisations and childcare facilities). The relevant measures are mainly as follows:
(1) Freshly prepared beverages must be graded according to the nutritional level of the sugar and saturated fat content in the beverage, which is categorised into "A", "B", "C" or "D (b) A grade of "A", "B", "C" or "D".
(2) Freshly prepared or prepackaged beverages with a grade of "C" or "D" must be sold with the nutritional grade labelled next to the beverage (either on the physical menu or on the online menu), and the simplified nutritional grade symbol may be used to list multiple options on the menu. For grades "A" or "B", labelling is optional.
(3) Additives (e.g. pearls, jelly, ice cream and whipped cream) must be labelled with their sugar content in freshly prepared beverages.
(4) It is prohibited to publish promotional advertisements for freshly prepared beverages with a nutritional rating of "D".
