FAO proposed to develop and revise test methods for certain foods

On January 16, 2024, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) proposed to develop and revise some of the methods for the testing of food products, with a comment period ending on March 25, 2024, to provide feedback. The main contents are:

 

(1) The detection method for lead in butter, edible casein products and whey powder products is atomic absorption spectrophotometry with a detection limit of 0.008 mg/kg;

 

(2) Determination of aflatoxin in cereals and cereal products (including baby food). Detection limit is ≤4ug/kg;

 

(3) Determination of moisture content in milk powder by oven drying method.
