SPUTNIK, January 22 - Russian Agriculture Ministry's Agroexport Center said that China has become the main buyer of Russian honey in 2023.
In 2023, Russia exported 3,800 tonnes of natural honey to foreign markets, up 28% from 2022.
At the same time, China accounted for 22 per cent of Russian honey exports. Serbia and Slovakia are also among the top three importers of Russian honey.
In an interview on 12 January, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Abramchenko said that the value of Russia's agricultural exports in 2023 increased by 14%. She noted that Russia supplies food to 169 countries, with major partners including China, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Belarus, India, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.
Speaking at the Russia-China Business Forum in Shanghai on 23 May, Prime Minister Mishustin said that the Russian agricultural sector is ready to expand the scale and variety of products exported to China.
In 2022, Russian agricultural exports amounted to $41.6 billion and in 2023 they are expected to grow to over $45 billion.
