On 22 January 2024, according to the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), the European Commission issued Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/334 amending Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/405 in relation to third countries which have approved control plans and are authorised to import into the European Union certain live, refrigerated, chilled or processed bivalve molluscs, echinoderms, scaly jellyfish, and marine gastropods and fishery products. The main amendments are:
(1) Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/405 is amended as follows: Article 20(6) is replaced by the following: 6. Goods of processed raw materials used in the production of gelatine and collagen referred to in Section XIV, Chapter I, point 4(b)(iii), and Section XV, Chapter I, point 4(b)(iii), respectively, of Annex III to Regulation (EC) 853/2004 shall only be transported into third countries if they originate from goods authorised from among those goods under Article 19 of this Regulation. 19 of this Regulation may be authorised to enter the Union only from a third country or its territory from which goods of treated raw materials derived from those goods are authorised to enter the Union. Annex IX is amended in accordance with Annex III to this Regulation, etc;
(2) This Regulation enters into force on the 20th day after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union;
(3) Shelf-stable composite products produced from processed dairy products from Member States or from third countries listed in Annex I to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/405 are not subject to this transition period and may continue to enter the EU. The Regulation is fully binding and directly applicable in all Member States.
