EU proposed to extend the use of genetically modified oilseed rape GT73 in food products

On 30 January 2024, according to the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), the European Commission issued Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/388, which proposes to extend the use of genetically modified oilseed rape GT 73 in food. The main elements are:

 

(1) Authorises the use of the above three categories containing genetically modified oilseed rape MON-73-7, consisting of genetically modified oilseed rape MON-73-7 or produced from genetically modified oilseed rape MON-73-7 for foodstuffs, food ingredients and feedstuffs, except for cultivation. The words "not to be used for cultivation" shall appear on the labelling of the genetically modified oilseed rape or products consisting thereof and in the accompanying documentation;

 

(2) Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/701 is repealed.
