FSANZ sought views on increasing the maximum permissible energy of X-rays during food irradiation

On 1 February 2024, the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) issued Notice 280-24, Application A1261, seeking comments on increasing the maximum permissible energy of X-rays during radiation exposure of food.

 

It is understood that FSANZ is proposing to increase the maximum permitted energy of X-rays in food from 5 MeV to 7.5 MeV and that the closing date for comments is 15 March 2024 at 6pm (Canberra time).
