South Korea plans to raise fines for false nutrition labels

On March 21, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of the Republic of Korea issued Notice No. 2024-138, proposing to amend part of the "Food labeling, Advertising related Laws Enforcement Order", its main contents are as follows:

 

In order to strengthen consumers' right to know, local food and drug safety offices will be entrusted with the prohibition of drug labeling and similar labeling changes, and fines will be raised if the actual nutritional content exceeds the labeling level by 100 percent or fails to meet the labeling level.

 

The call for comments is open until April 30, 2024.
