GACC Announcement No. 42 of 2024 (Announcement on the Inspection and Quarantine Requirements of Chilean Almond Products Exported to China)

On April 15, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China issued Announcement No. 42 of 2024, announcing that from now on, Chilean almond products that meet the relevant requirements will be allowed to import.

 

Chilean almond products permitted for import are almond products derived from the seeds of almond (Prunus dulcis) grown in the Republic of Chile and obtained in the Republic of Chile through shucking and other processing for use only for food or food processing purposes, including:

 

(1) Hulled almond (including whole, sliced, stick or cube shape), products obtained from the almond after sorting, hulling, fumigation, cleaning, drying, screening, cutting, packaging, etc.;

 

(2) Almond powder, a product obtained from the almond after sorting, hulling, fumigation, cleaning, drying, screening, crushing, packaging, etc.

 

Chilean almond product manufacturers shall ensure that their almond products exported to China comply with China's food safety and phytosanitary laws and regulations as well as China's national food safety standards. The processing and storage units of almond products exported to China should be recommended by Chile and registered by the GACC.

 

At the same time, the announcement also details the relevant requirements for imports, including food safety requirements, plant quarantine requirements, packaging requirements, certificate requirements, etc.
