On April 29, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 52 of 2024, announcing that with immediate effect, the importation of French swine-derived protein feeds meeting the relevant requirements is permitted.
Pig-derived protein feeds in this announcement include meat meal, bone meal, meat and bone meal, blood meal, plasma protein powder, blood products such as spray-dried plasma powder and hemoglobin powder.
Manufacturing and processing enterprises of pig-derived protein feeds for export to China shall meet the following requirements:
(i) Approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty of the French Republic (hereinafter referred to as the French side) and produced under the effective supervision of the French side, with the products conforming to the requirements of the laws and regulations of the French side, and permitted to be sold freely within France.
(ⅱ) Recommended by the French side to the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side), qualified and registered by the Chinese side, the registration is valid for 5 years, and the French side shall promptly notify the Chinese side of any changes to the registered producers and confirm them.
(ⅲ) Implement HACCP quality management system or in accordance with the principles of HACCP to establish a quality management system, develop and effectively implement product traceability and recall system.
