The Philippines developed guidelines for importing pre-packaged processed food samples

On May 7, 2024, the Philippine Food and Drug Authority issued Notice 2024-004 establishing guidelines for imported pre-packaged processed food samples, effective 15 days after publication in the Official Gazette or any newspaper in circulation. The main contents are as follows:

 

(1) Objectives and scope of application. Applicable to imported samples of pre-packaged processed food for research and development purposes or unregistered imported samples for testing purposes;

 

(2) Terms and definitions;

 

(3) General guidelines. An import license must be obtained in advance for the import of pre-packaged samples, and the application for an import license should be filed with the Philippine Food and Drug Administration at least 14 days prior to the arrival of the product samples; The maximum import weight or volume is 5KG or 5L;

 

(4) Specific requirements for license application. The application or letter of intent includes: product name, brand, quantity, manufacturer name and address, notarized affidavit of commitment, certificate of analysis or free sale or health certificate, packing list, invoice, etc.
