South Korea revised Codex Alimentarius

On May 17, 2024, the Ministry of Food and Drugs of Korea (MFDS) issued Bulletin No. 2024-22 amending portions of the Codex Alimentarius, effective as of the date of issuance. Main contents:

 

(1) Revise the preservation standards for food products. Sauce packets can be kept frozen;

 

(2) Revise the names of flavored seaweed food categories. The names of flavored seaweed or roasted seaweed are differentiated;

 

(3) Revise the food ingredient list. Include Mizuno tree extract, black mountain root powder, etc. as food ingredients;

 

(4) Revise the residue limit standards for 57 pesticides, including Kasugamycin, and 11 veterinary drugs, including Nelasin;

 

(5) Remove mandatory requirements for pepper adulteration test items; newly approved test methods for genetically modified foods (GMB151, MON87429), etc.
