On June 3, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 67 of 2024, announcing that with immediate effect, the importation of Egyptian dried chili peppers meeting the relevant requirements is permitted.

Dried chili peppers in this announcement refer to products made from edible chili peppers (Capsicum annuum L.) grown in Egypt and processed by natural drying or other drying processes.

The planting bases and processing and packaging plants of dried chili peppers for export to China shall be examined and filed with the Central Plant Quarantine Authority (hereinafter referred to as the Egyptian side) representing the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt, and approved for registration by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side).

The registration information shall include the name, address, product and registration number for accurate traceability in case the dried chili peppers exported to China do not comply with the relevant provisions of this announcement. Before the commencement of trade, the Egyptian side shall provide the registration list to the Chinese side. After the Chinese side has reviewed and approved the list, the Chinese side will publish it on the website of the GACC.
