According to a notice issued by the European Commission (EC) on June 12, Vietnamese instant noodle products will be officially removed from the EU food safety control list from July 2.
On June 12, the European Commission issued Notice No. 2024/1662 on the increase of official controls and emergency measures on agricultural and food products entering the EU from third countries. According to the announcement, the frequency of port inspections of instant noodles in Vietnam is still maintained at 20%.
The removal from the EU food safety control list will help Vietnamese instant noodles gain easier access to the EU market, which has a huge potential of more than 450 million people. It is also a step in the journey to build a brand for Vietnamese agricultural products.
In addition to instant noodles, the EU has also adjusted inspection rules for some other Vietnamese agricultural products. For dragon fruit, the frequency of border inspection has been increased from 20% to 30%; Transfer of pepper products from Appendix I (50% control) to Appendix II (50% control with food safety certificate and product pesticide residue test report); Okra still maintains 50% inspection frequency, and attach food safety certificate and product pesticide residue test report; Durian products maintain a 10% inspection frequency.
