On June 21, 2024, the Singapore Food Authority (SFA) issued a news release suspending the importation of poultry and its products from the vicinity of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak in the United States.

Due to the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak in Cherokee County, Iowa, USA, from June 3, 2024, Singapore will impose temporary restrictions on the importation of poultry and their products within 10 kilometers around the affected area of the outbreak. Poultry products that meet the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) avian influenza virus inactivation requirements for heat treatment will not be affected by the import restrictions.

Poultry products exported from Cherokee County, Iowa prior to June 3, 2024 and slaughtered prior to May 20, 2024 will continue to be accepted for import.
