June 28, 2024 - Japan's Morinaga Co. is urgently recalling about 190,000 packages of small round biscuits due to foreign matter that may have been mixed with the product, according to Japanese media sources in a product recall announcement posted on its official website.
It is understood that on June 21, a Japanese consumer said Morinaga's children's snacks mixed with foreign matter. After inspection, the company found that the foreign matter may be the feces of small animals, which may have been mixed in the manufacturing process of the factory. The product in question is sold throughout Japan, and the company is currently working to identify the cause.
There have been no reports of health hazards so far, the company said.
Morinaga has apologized and said it will make every effort to strengthen its quality control system. The production line in question is currently out of operation.
