On June 25, 2024, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of the Republic of Korea released a test method for melatonin in food. The main contents include:

(1) Scope of application of the test method. Applicable to food in tablet and powder form;

(2) Principle of analysis. The sample is extracted with methanol and then analyzed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS);

(3) Specific testing procedure, calculation method of melatonin, etc.
