On July 2, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of the Republic of Korea issued Presidential Decree No. 34663, amending part of the “Law Enforcement Order on Labeling and Advertising of Food Products”, which includes:
The amount of fine for improper labeling and advertising is twice the sales volume multiplied by the sales price. Depending on the content, degree, and time of the violation, the amount of fine can be reduced by half of the amount of fine. When the actual measured value of the nutrient content in the food exceeds the allowable error range of the nutrition labeling amount, if the actual measured value and the allowable error exceed 100% or the actual measured value is 0, the penalty amount will be increased.
