South Korea revised Food Standard Codes

On July 10, 2024, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of the Republic of Korea issued Announcement No. 2024-35 revising the Food Standards Code, which is effective as of the date of issuance. Main contents:

 

(1) New food standard for nutritional supplements for patients with pulmonary disease. The calories from protein sources in nutritional supplements for patients with lung diseases shall be 18-25% of the total calories, carbohydrates shall be less than 40% of the total calories, calories from fat shall be less than 40% of the total calories, and the content of medium-chain triglycerides shall be 20-25% of the total fat content, etc;

 

(2) Revision of the standards for the use of food ingredients. Garcinia cambogia extract raw material use standards for less than 5%, the daily intake should not exceed 6g revised to daily intake of 2.5g;

 

(3) Establishment of maximum residue limits for four types of pesticides such as Molinate in some foods as shown in the table below.
