On June 3, 2020, National Health Commission (NHC) issued an announcement that the safety assessment of 4 New Food Ingredients, 21 novel food additives and 28 new varieties of food related products has been reviewed and approved according to the Food Safety Law.
Lactobacillus helveticus R0052, Bifidobacterium infantis R0033 and Bifidobacterium bifidum R0071 have been certified by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) substance. Products containing these three strains have been approved for infants and young children in Canada, Poland and Australia. Several clinical studies conducted on infants and young children around the world have proved that the three strains can apply on food safely and are well tolerated.
In addition, Penthorum chinense Pursh was also approved as new food ingredients and can be applied on tea industry according to National Food Safety Standard.
