Case Study

The "Cantonese-style sausage" sold by a company in Shanghai was fined and confiscated with the illegal income by the Shanghai market supervision and administration department for not marking the corresponding quality grade on the outer package.

广式香肠

The food involved belonged to the food that did not meet the national food safety standards, violated GB/T23493-2009 Chinese sausage and GB 7718-2011 National Food Safety Standard General Standard for the Labeling of Prepackaged Foods. GB/T23493-2009 stipulates the product quality level (special grade, excellent grade, ordinary grade), and GB 7718-2011 stipulates if the corresponding product standard implemented by the food has clearly specified the quality level, the quality level shall be indicated.

The Shanghai Administration for Market Regulation therefore ruled that the company shall be fined 1000 RMB.
