GACC | Rejected Imported Foods & Cosmetics in January 2021


On February 23, the General Administration of Customs released the national non-entry food and cosmetics information for January 2021. In January 2021, the national customs detected 199 batches of non-entry food and cosmetics as unqualified safety and hygiene items in the port supervision link. 184 batches, 15 batches of cosmetics.

According to statistics, the unauthorized food comes from Argentina, Egypt, Austria, Australia, Pakistan, Brazil, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Russia, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Malaysia, the United States, Peru, Myanmar, Norway, Portugal, Japan, Sweden, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Spain, Singapore, New Zealand, Israel, Italy, India, Britain, Vietnam, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, China, more than 30 countries or regions, of which the number of unauthorized food from Hong Kong, China is the largest. 26 batches, followed by Japan, with 21 batches, and the United States and Taiwan, China, with 19 batches each.

The main reasons for these unqualified foods are unqualified labels, food additive use problems, microbial contamination problems, nutritional supplements use problems, quality index problems, failure to provide certificates or qualified certification materials as required, and failure to obtain inspection and quarantine access. Contains ingredients of animal origin that have not been approved for inspection and quarantine, some foods have been detected with animal diseases, unapproved genetically modified ingredients, non-compliance with the certificate, filth and corruption, pesticide residue problems, unqualified packaging, and beyond the shelf life.

The ports of entry for non-entry food include Beijing, Dalian, Fuzhou, Gongbei, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Huangpu, Jiangmen, Kunming, Nanning, Ningbo, Qingdao, Xiamen, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Urumqi, and Chongqing. Among them, the number of unapproved foods at Ningbo and Shenzhen ports ranks first, with 37 batches each.

In addition, there were 15 batches of cosmetics that were not allowed to enter the country in January 2021, from South Korea, France, Thailand, and Israel. The reasons for the non-entry were related to the expiration date, the failure to provide certificates or certification materials as required, the total number of colonies, and the arsenic.

It is reported that these unauthorized food and cosmetics have been returned or destroyed at the port according to law.
