India revises food and food additive standards
On July 26, 2021, the Food Safety Agency of India issued an announcement 1-116/Scientific Committee/Notif.28.4/2010-FSSAI, which is the third revision of the "2021 Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives )" The Regulations will take effect from the date of issuance, and the transition period will end on February 1, 2022. The main revisions are as follows:
(1) Milk standard items are replaced with water and milk;
(2) Increase the specification of grape seed oil;
(3) Add new definitions and standards for physical and chemical parameters of products such as corn starch, yellow pea flour, dried sage, solid instant tea, decaffeinated roast and ground coffee and chicory mixture;
(4) The single pesticide residue in mineral water does not exceed 0.0001 mg/L, and the total amount of pesticide residue does not exceed 0.0005 mg/L;
(5) The hexane content of refined oil should not exceed 5.0 ppm. The oil obtained by the pressing method should not contain hexane residues;
(6) The food additive "Alitame" and its related items should be omitted.
