According to the monthly notice of unqualified foods and cosmetics by GAC, 352 batches of imported foods and 34 bactches of cosmetics were found unqualified and refused for entry in December 2021.
Unqualified foods came from 41 countries or regions. Products from Japan, 84 batches, were the most, followed by South Korea and U.S., with 31 batches and 28 batches respectively.
The foods refused for entry did not comply with China’s laws and regulations. The main reasons of rejection were food additives use problems, failure to provide inspection and quarantine access, nutritional supplements use problems, microbial contamination, unqualified labels, unqualified packaging, product mildew, expiration of shelf life, etc. In addition, some products were detected exceed the shelf life, product mildew, filth and corruption, contain impurities.
Statistics also show that Shenzhen Port detected the largest number of unqualified foods, with 90 batches.
In addition, 34 batches of cosmetics were not allowed to enter the country, of which are from Germany and France (unqualified labels, failure to provide certificates or certification materials as required).
The above-mentioned unqualified foods and cosmetics had been returned or destroyed at ports, according to GACC.
