Philippines to set standards for refrigerated or frozen crabs

On April 19, 2022, the Philippine Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards issued a consultation paper to develop standards for refrigerated or frozen crabs.  The main contents are as follows:

(1) Scope: the standard applies to mangrove crabs, stone crabs, spotted crabs, swimming crabs, etc.

(2) Terms and definitions;

(3) Hygienic requirements for processing facilities, temporary feeding, cooking, cooling, cutting and other processing;

(4) Requirements for packaging labels, storage and transportation. 

The feedback period for this standard is 60 days.
