According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), world cereal commodity prices jumped sharply as the Russia-Ukraine conflict hit the staple grains and vegetable oil market. The FAO food Price Index averaged 159.3 points in March, 12.6% higher month-on-month, year-on-year growth of 33.6% made it the highest on record according to the Business Mirror of the Philippines. The grain price index rose 17.1%, vegetable oil by 23.2% , sugar by 6.7%, meat by 4.8%, and dairy products by 2.6 month-on-month.
