The European Union has approved mung bean protein as a new food product

On 25 April 2022, the European Commission has published Regulation (EU) 2022/673, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 2015/2283 of the European Parliament and the European Council,  authorizing the marketing of mung bean protein as a novel food and amend annex to the Implementing Regulation of the European Commission (EU) 2017/2470 concerning the requirements for the use of novel food.  

   

These regulations shall take effect twenty days from the date of promulgation.
