MFDS en

On May 4, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of The Republic of Korea issued notice No. 2022-198, which intends to amend part of the Implementation Regulation of Special Law on the Safety Management of imported Food. The main contents are as follows:

 1. Photos obliged in documents upon declaration of imported food, etc.

 2. Acknowledge the test report of random sampling inspection when applying the change of use of raw materials used in the production of the company's products.

 3. Expand the conversion scope of unqualified products through customs clearance: allow not only grains and beans in unqualified products as feeds, but also plant raw materials such as potatoes and fruits and processed foods as feeds, so as to reduce the destruction burden of enterprises through resource recycling.

 4. Improve facilities standards for import and sales of imported food and other industries: regulate business registration of e-commerce or mail-order sales in accordance with the E-commerce and other Consumer Protection Act.

 5. Set new administrative penalty standards for reporting purchasing agents such as imported food.

The above comments will be solicited until June 24, 2022.
