Korea plans to revise its Low Salt and Low Sugar Labeling Standards to include instant foods

On May 4, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of South Korea issued notice No. 2022-203, proposing to revise part of the Low Salt and Low Sugar Labeling Standards, the main contents are as follows:  

   

1. Modify the definition of "similar products of the company" : in addition to the same production company, products sold by the same distributor can also be labeled and advertised as low in salt and sugar.  

   

2. Revised applicable objects: add instant food (triangle laver rice bun only) and instant cooking food (soup, miso soup and hot pot only).  

   

3. Add specific classification of food types in applicable objects.  

   

The above comments will be solicited until May 24, 2022.
