US FDA plans to approve Antarctic krill Meal as a pigment additive in the feed of salmonid fish

On May 10, 2022, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued Regulation no. 2022-10025, amending the color additive provisions of the Pigment Additive Regulation "List of Color Additives Exempt from Certification."  It is proposed to approve Antarctic Krill Meal as a colour additive in the feed of salmonid fish.  
   
Antarctic krill meal (consisting of ground and dried tissues of young krill, with or without lipid components) is known to be used in the feed of salmonid fish to enhance the colour of their meat.

The rule takes effect on June 10, 2022, and all objections must be submitted by June 9, 2022.
