On 29 April 2022, the European Union published Regulation (EU) 2022/686 amending the conditions of approval for the active substance Sulfoxaflor. These regulations shall take effect twenty days from the date of promulgation.
based on the assessment, the risk of bees being used in permanent greenhouses is acceptable. However, the risk assessment of outdoor use to bumblebees and solitary bees cannot be conclusively determined.
Member States shall revoke or amend the authorization of plant protection products containing Sulfoxaflor by 19 November 2022 at the latest. Any grace period granted by member States under Article 46 of Regulation (EC) 1107/2009 shall not exceed 19 May 2023 at the latest.
Annex I (EU) 2015/1295 and Annex (EU) No 540/2011 are amended as follows:
Replace the column of "Specific provisions" with the following:
"only allowed in permanent greenhouses.
In order to implement the harmonization principle of article 29(6) of (EC) No 1107/2009, the conclusions of the Review report on sulfadiazine finalized by the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed on 29 May 2015 and updated on 28 January 2022, in particular Annexes I and II, shall be taken into account.
In the overall assessment, member States should pay particular attention to the risks of bees and bumblebees released for pollination when products containing the substance are used in greenhouses.
Conditions of use should include appropriate risk mitigation measures.
