Indonesian President Joko has announced the lifting of the export ban on edible oil and crude palm oil (CPO) on May 23, 2022.  
 
The lifting of the ban is said to have taken into account of the employment of farmers and workers in the palm refining industry and plantations.  In an official statement on May 19, 2022, it said that "even if exports are opened, the government will still closely monitor to ensure that supply is adequate and affordable".
