On 1 June 2022, the SFDA intends to formulate guidelines for food registration, and the feedback period ends 14 July.  The main contents are as follows :

(1) Terms and definitions; 

(2) The food registration service aims to establish and develop a food database in Saudi Arabia, and also aims to regulate the import, export, production and circulation of food, which is one of the conditions for importing food.  The main steps include setting up electronic account, food registration application, electronic customs clearance (only for imported food), etc. 

(3) The maximum approval time for food registration applications; 

(4) Special requirements for the registration of certain foods; 

(5) The importer or producer must verify the accuracy of the submitted data, comply with the technical regulations and circulars issued by the relevant authorities, and follow up the product recall or withdrawal at all sales and distribution outlets if necessary.
