Philippines to develop labeling standards for prepackaged refrigerated or frozen meat

On August 11, 2022, the Philippine Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards issued a standard notice to develop standards for the labeling of prepackaged fresh refrigerated or frozen meat. Draft standard main content includes terms and phrases, labels, general principles (including mustn’t contain any false or misleading information, mandatory information should be clear, eye-catching, indelible, text should use English or Filipino, etc.), type of mandatory labeling information (including name, specifications, production or importers information, production date, shelf-life, batch number identification number, etc.) and labeling requirements (including position, size, font, etc.), selective labeling information (including product grade, certification mark, etc.). The draft standard applies to imported or domestic products, and the comment period is 60 days.
