Japan issues standards for organic processed food

On September 1, 2022, the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan released Notice No. 18, which formulated the Standard for Organic Processed Food. The main content of the standard includes terms, definitions and classification [including organic farm products processed food, organic livestock products processed food, agricultural and livestock products processed food and other categories. The organic ingredients (including food additives, processing aids, etc.) content must not exceed 5%], organic processed foods production management requirements (including manufacturing, processing, packaging, storage and transportation of health management and process control), allowed accessories list in organic processed foods production, final product label requirements [product name shall be labeled "organic, XX (XX Processed food names) "or" XX (organic) ", etc.].

 

The standard will take effect from Oct 1, 2022.
