Two pet food companies warned by FDA after Salmonella and Listeria found in finished products

According to Food Safety News, on March 20, 2023, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued warning letters to two pet food companies.

 

In a Feb. 21 warning letter, the FDA described a July 14 through Oct. 11, 2022 inspection of Primal Pet Foods’ manufacturing facility in Fairfield, CA. It is understood that the violation notified by the company was the detection of listeria bacteria in a sample.

 

In a Feb. 16 warning letter, the FDA described an Aug. 23 through Sept. 30, 2022 inspection of Arrow Reliance Inc.’s pet food manufacturing facility in Tukwila, WA. It is understood that the company has been notified of violations involving the detection of salmonella in the product and product adulteration.
